Energy-efficient housing in Albertslund Municipality
Our homes have an enormous impact on the environment and climate through the large energy consumption for heating and electricity consumption in the households. Therefore, the development of our homes’ energy supply is crucial for the green transition.
Every year, buildings in Denmark account for 30% of the total Danish CO2 emissions. In 2020 alone, there were 460,000 homes with oil and gas boilers, and CO2 emissions will continue to rise if we do not strengthen the transition to renewable energy sources and energy-efficient systems.
In order to switch to smarter operation of homes, it requires advice, information sharing, financial measures as well as a change in our usage habits and approach to technological tools in order to switch to smarter and more energy efficient homes.
In Albertslund Municipality, there has been a green and sustainable approach to energy efficiency for many years, which for a long time has provided a space to participate in projects that have been able to support smart technologies such as DOLL and Lightning metropolis through GATE21.
Through SMART2B, Albertslund Municipality has seen an opportunity to create an awareness and knowledge of this type of technology, so that this change regarding conversion to smarter technologies is more accessible and easier to adopt and use.
Albertslund Municipality sees a great potential in this type of technology in order to adapt the user’s habits and experience with data-driven efficiency platforms.
Seen in the light of this, SMART2B is a possible platform that could clearly be implemented throughout Albertslund on the public and private market.
