Smart2B pre-pilot phase

Smart2B pre-pilot phase kicked-off

Last month (March 2022), Smart2B officially started the preparation of the demonstration phase (pre-pilot phase). Until now, only three (out of five) of the Smart2B pilots began their activities: the two Portuguese residential pilots (Lisbon Social Communities – LSCs, and the Lisbon Airbnb Building – LAB) and the Spanish non-residential pilot (Alcantarilla Office Complex – AOC).

The initial phase of the deployment of Smart2B devices has already been completed for the LSCs pilot and has started for the LAB pilot. This phase consisted of installing the energy consumption monitoring equipment in these residential buildings, more specifically the re:dy system, which is being developed by EDP.

The re:dy system comprises smart energy meters, smart plugs, smart AC plugs (which is a smart plug with the capacity to control AC units via infrared signals), and smart switches. All this equipment is connected to a gateway that will be responsible for the communication with Smart2B Platform.

In the AOC pilot, the first phase of equipment installation has already started with the completion of the installation of a photovoltaic (PV) system with 10 kWp in its roof. In the next couple of weeks, three EV chargers will also be installed in the parking lot. Both energy systems will be integrated in the Smart2B Platform in the near future with the objective to increase the energy flexibility and energy savings of the building.

The Smart2B pre-pilot phase will last until December of 2022. In the next couple of months, updates about the two remaining demonstration pilots will be shared.
